Start where the problem is

What are you locking up?

The mechanism

How the lock actually works

Four things have to be true before a box counts as secure: the mail goes in and cannot come back out, the door needs a key, the box cannot be carried off, and the driver does not have to learn anything. Ours does all four.

01 Close detail of the keyed lock cylinder on a Black Adoorn locking package box | Adoorn

Keyed cylinder, not a code

A real lock with a real key. Nothing to forget, nothing to reset, nothing that dies in January. Keys ship with every box, and replacements are cut to match your lock.

02 Mail going in through the open top drop panel of a Black Adoorn locking wall mount mailbox, lower door closed | Adoorn

One-way drop, no fishing

Mail drops through the top and lands in a tray you can only reach through the locked door. Nothing to fish back up, nothing to pull back out.

03 Powder-coated steel body and embossed Adoorn detail on a Black locking package box | Adoorn

Steel body, raised from standing water

Powder-coated steel on raised feet, so puddles and snowmelt never reach what is inside. The base is drilled for anchoring if you want it fixed down.

04 A large box sitting in the open top drop panel of a Black Adoorn locking package box | Adoorn

Drivers just drop it in

USPS, UPS, FedEx, Amazon, DHL. The top panel sits unlocked, the driver puts the package straight in, and it slips past the anti-theft shield to the bottom of the box, where it waits for you and your key.

Each box keeps its own lock. The mailbox and the package box each have their own cylinder and their own keys. We would rather tell you that here than have you find out at unboxing.

Theft prevention, start to finish

Watch it work

A delivery arrives, goes through the top, and stops being anybody else’s to take.

  1. The driver opens the top panel. No app, no code, nothing to explain at the door.
  2. The package drops into the locked body. It slides past the anti-theft shield, out of reach.
  3. You unlock the door with your key. The only way back into the compartment.

Porch pirates Unlocking a Black locking package box to take a delivery out | Adoorn

Porch pirates took 104 million packages

31% of Americans had a package stolen last year. About 104 million packages, and the average one was worth $143. It is not a rare event, it is a weekly one somewhere on your street.

Mail theft is how identity theft starts

Bank statements, checks, tax documents, anything with your name and account number on it. Federal investigators track mail theft by name, and in six months banks reported $688 million in check fraud that began with stolen mail. An open mailbox is the front end of that.

The reframe A Black Adoorn locking package box standing closed and locked at a gated entrance | Adoorn

A camera records it. A lock prevents it.

Roughly 30% of victims already had a camera or a video doorbell watching when it happened. Footage is not a deterrent, it is a receipt. A lock is the part that changes the outcome.

Frequently asked

Yes, and it is the first thing everyone asks. The door stays locked the whole time. The top panel lifts, the driver drops the package straight in, and it slides past the anti-theft shield to the bottom of the box. No app, no code, nothing for them to learn. Every box ships with a note card for your driver, and we show you exactly what to add to your delivery instructions so it happens on the first try.
No. Each one has its own lock and its own set of keys, and the package box ships with two. Replacement keys are cut to match your lock.
Not easily. It is heavy powder-coated steel, and the base is drilled for anchor bolts if you want it fixed to concrete or decking. Anchoring is the difference between a locked box and a locked box that stays put.
No. Mail drops through a hooded slot into a compartment that only opens through the keyed door. There is no path back up through the opening, which is the whole point of a locking mailbox as opposed to a mailbox with a latch.
Yes. All Adoorn mailboxes meet USPS requirements for curbside delivery, so your carrier can use them the same day you install one.
