How to Anchor Your Adoorn Package Box
Anchor your Adoorn Package Box to wood decking or concrete using the four anchor holes on the bottom panel. This guide covers both surfaces with the exact hardware specs, drill sizes, and step-by-step procedures.
For use with: Package Box Small & Package Box Large
Before You Start
The Adoorn Package Box (Small and Large) anchors to the ground through the four anchor holes located in the bottom panel. Anchoring is optional but recommended in high-traffic areas or for added security.
Pick your location
- Choose a location under an eave or other protected area when possible.
- Practice opening and closing the Adoorn before drilling to ensure proper spacing and functionality (lid clearance, access angle, etc.).
- Determine the material you'll be anchoring into: wood decking, composite decking, concrete, etc.
Hardware You'll Need
Hardware is not included. You'll need to buy anchoring hardware suitable for your surface — most hardware stores carry everything below.
- Hardware size: 5/16" (fits the bottom-panel anchor holes)
- Quantity: 4 pieces total — one per anchor hole
How to Anchor to Wood Decking
For composite or pressure-treated wood decking. If you're anchoring into concrete, skip to the concrete instructions.
Hardware needed (not included)
- 4× non-rusting 5/16" diameter lag bolts
- 4× 5/16" washers
- 4× 5/16" gasket washers (optional, for weather sealing)
- Position the Package Box in your chosen location and practice opening and closing the lid to confirm clearance.
- Open the lid, then mark the four anchor holes on the wood decking using chalk or a permanent marker through the holes in the bottom panel.
- Lift the Package Box away to expose the four marked locations.
- Drill four pilot holes at the marks. For medium-strength wood, use a 3/16" pilot bit. Keep the drill plumb and level so the holes are straight.
- Clear away any sawdust or debris.
- Place the Package Box back in position, aligning its bottom-panel holes with your pilot holes.
- Slide a 5/16" washer onto each 5/16" lag bolt. (Add a gasket washer first if using one.)
- Insert each bolt through the bottom panel into the pilot hole, then tighten until snug — do not overtighten.
- Confirm the box is secure. Open and close the lid one more time to verify nothing has shifted.
How to Anchor to Concrete
For poured concrete patios, slabs, or pavers. If you're anchoring into wood, see the wood decking instructions above.
Hardware needed (not included)
- 4× 5/16" concrete anchor bolts — recommended: Tapcon Heavy Duty Concrete Screw Anchors, 5/16" D × 2 ¼" L
- 4× 5/16" washers
Concrete wedge anchors are an alternative — if you use them, follow the manufacturer's installation instructions instead of the steps below.
- Position the Package Box in your chosen location and practice opening and closing the lid to confirm clearance.
- Open the lid, then mark the four anchor holes on the concrete using chalk or a permanent marker through the holes in the bottom panel.
- Lift the Package Box away to expose the four marked locations.
- Using a hammer drill with a 1/4" masonry bit, drill four pilot holes. Drill 1/2" deeper than the anchor's embedment depth. Keep the drill plumb and level.
- Clear away any concrete dust and debris.
- Place the Package Box back in position, aligning its bottom-panel holes with your pilot holes.
- Slide a 5/16" washer onto each concrete anchor bolt.
- Insert each bolt through the bottom panel into the pilot hole, then drive home using an impact driver or manual wrench until snug.
- Confirm the box is secure. Open and close the lid one more time to verify nothing has shifted.
